A beautiful day to fish the Missouri!
April 28, 2008 by mysticfish
Between baseball, track and snowstorms, I finally got an opening to take my kids fishing.

While a number of browns and a couple rainbows were landed by Keeli and me, that is not the big news. Kyle added a sculpin, some kind of dace minnow and two crayfish along with a bunch of midge larvae, mayfly nymphs, sow bugs and a few caddis worms to his fish tank. He has more fun with an aquarium net and a bucket, than a fly rod and a 20″ fish. He has seen plenty of big fish and is far more fascinated with tiny creatures. At bedtime we watch Fish TV.
Oh…Tons of midges and a few BWOs starting to hatch on the river. Size 20 Beadhead WD40 and an Egg worked wonders in the bright sunshine. Water up to 43 degrees now. Clouds and precipitation will make the BWO’s go off any day.
Glad to see some pics of you and your family on the river. Looks like Keeli had a blast, and good to hear that Kyle has a few more friends in his aquarium.
See you in a few months on the Kenai
